June 15 | Outdoor Documentary Screening, Cinema Studies Group and the Herb Garden

Dear Cinema Studies Group, Herb gardeners and, friends:

This coming Friday, June 15th the Herb Garden and the Cinema Studies Group will be hosting a documentary and book presentation about the life and work of Puerto Rican visual artist, Rafael Rivera Rosa – one of the most prominent representatives of the 1950’s generation of Puerto Rican artists.

This documentary speaks to the heart of East Harlem – Rivera Rosa came to New York in 1946 at the age of 6 and lived on 112th St. until his return to Puerto Rico as a young adult. He still has family in East Harlem. The documentary and the book are part of the retrospective exhibition of his work at the Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico. The documentary will be presented by Juan García (Director) and Sonya Canetti (Producer).

García and Canetti will also show a short film documenting 1 of the 4,645 deaths in Puerto Rico related to Hurricane Maria.

Hope you can make it. It promises to be a beautiful event in our beautiful East Harlem garden. Spread the word!
