Due by July 7 | French Screen Studies: MA Essay Prize Call for Entries

On behalf of the journal French Screen Studies, we are pleased to invite submissions for our annual MA Essay Prize. This is an annual prize open to any essay on a relevant topic in French and Francophone screen studies, written in English or French, with specific requirements for eligibility as follows:
  • Entrants must have been registered on an MA in the last two academic years (2023-24 or 2024-25) and not have submitted the same piece for the prize last year.
  • Essays must have been awarded a minimum mark of 75%
  • Essays must be a minimum of 4,500 and a maximum of 7,500 words long including references.
  • Essays will have arisen from MA work but may have been further edited. Notably, in the case of work below the required length, expansion is required.
  • Since the journal plans to ask the winner to submit a (possibly slightly worked up) version of their essay for publication in it following the normal peer review process, the essay should not be planned for publication elsewhere.
Please send essays for consideration as a PDF or Word document, along with e-mail contact details of the relevant course leader who oversaw the relevant essay’s first iteration, to [email protected] and [email protected], entitling the email, French Screen Studies MA Essay Prize, by 12 noon on Monday 7th July 2025.
