We invite you to submit film writing of all kinds for publication in Optic Nerve Magazine. Submissions may come in the form of critical writing, like essays or reviews, or creative writing, like screenplays or poems. As long as the piece’s guiding focus is film, it is fit for publication in Optic Nerve.
Optic Nerve is an independent film magazine based out of New York. The magazine focuses on publishing emerging film writers, platforming critics whose eclectic tastes span genres, decades, and continents but share a belief in the importance of critical viewership.
Submissions are accepted on a rolling basis. To submit a pitch, write to [email protected] with the article’s name and “Pitch” in the subject line (e.g. “Branded to Kill Review Pitch”) followed by a short description of the article you intend to write in the body of the email. Completed but previously unpublished pieces are also accepted.
You can find past articles we have published on our website. You can also keep up with our upcoming screenings and other updates through our Instagram.
I look forward to reading your work.
Sincerely,
Gabriel Espaillat
Editor-in-Chief, Optic Nerve Magazine
