The sensible folks at Senses of Cinema are recruiting a Managing Editor. The role combines nuanced film literacy with the practical focus of an operations manager. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, motivated and organised. The Managing Editor is the conduit between the Committee, the Webmaster and the Editorial Board. A willingness to accept direction, ask questions and then apply those learnings to problem solve is essential. They are responsible for coordinating the editorial calendar, maintaining publication deadlines and should have an eye for good content. Proficient interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills are key to success in this role.
About you:
- Experience in publishing environment
- Proficient in copywriting and editing
- Working knowledge of online platforms like WordPress, GoogleSheets, Campaign Monitor
- Proficiency in English
- Abilities in planning, coordinating people and operations

Time commitment:
- The role takes around 8 hours a week, which fluctuates relative to the publishing schedule
- Senses of Cinema is a volunteer-run organisation and this role is not salaried, it suits someone who is otherwise studying or working.
