May 7th, May 21st

This is a drop-in period for GC registered graduate student parents who may be interested in briefly consulting with a former grad parent and psychologist about their experience.
Dr. Nicole Benedicto Elden is the Assistant Director and Clinical Psychologist at The Wellness Center’s Student Counseling Service and also a recovering graduate student parent.
Some examples of topics we can discuss together;
-Dealing with feelings of “not being good enough” as a parent and as a grad student.
-Grad Parent concerns in and out of academia.
-Balancing parenting, academics, jobs and your relationships.
-Coping with chronic sleep deprivation and exhaustion.
-Helping your infant and toddler through developmental milestones (i.e. sleep training; eating; toilet training; socialization…etc.).
-Developing empathy and collaboration when you and your partner have differing parenting styles and values.
-Cultural clashes in parenting.
-Understanding your teens and their moods.
-When your parents (or in-laws) want to parent your child for you.
-When no one in your program “gets it!”
-To quit or not to quit (or at least take a leave of absence)?
These sessions are made available through the collaboration of the GC Student Counseling Service and the Child Care Center. For more information, you can call 212-817-7020.
