Internship Opportunity – New York Public Library, Media Preservation + Jerome Robbins Dance Division


The Jerome Robbins Dance Division and the New York Public Library (Media Preservation)  is hosting a paid internship for the Spring semester Film Studies students are invited to apply. We’re hoping to have this position filled by Jan. 1.

Here’s a brief summary:

This internship will focus on the JRDD’s collection of 16mm shelf copies to identify elements which must be prioritized for digital preservation. Incorporating on-site research and hands-on training, the student will gain experience in the following areas:

  • curatorial research
  • physical media logistics
  • film inspection, assessment, and repair
  • automated and manual quality control of digital assets

Working closely with both Tanisha Jones, Assistant Curator, Jerome Robbins Dance Division; and Genevieve Havemeyer-King, Manager, Media Preservation Services unit, this internship will take place across two separate on-site locations – the Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center and the Library Services Center in Queens.
