The Segal Center invites artists, philosophers, students, and faculty from the “banned seven”: Iran, Iraq, Yemen, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Syria to share their thoughts and reactions to the recent changes in U.S. immigration policy.An open call has been issued for participants, and is still ongoing. Everybody in New York City who is interested in what philosophers, artists, students, and/or faculty from Iran, Iraq, Yemen, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and/or Syria have to say, please join us!

“The Graduate School of the Graduate Center of The City University of New York has voted to designate The Graduate School as a “Sanctuary Campus” and will ask the administration to consent to exercise any available power to implement this Resolution to protect our students, staff, faculty, and those physically located on campus from intimidation, investigation, surveillance, deportation, and other protected status-based attacks when they are on campus”–Resolution from GC CUNY Graduate Council meeting, 10/26/16.

The Segal Center enjoys a global reputation for some of the most diverse programming in the world, and is the only dedicated space in New York providing free programs of international theatre and performance. Through its International Theatre Series, the Segal Center has hosted events featuring artists and scholars from dozens of countries, often providing U.S. audiences with their first glimpse of world renowned artists.
